Dear all,
I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Many of us have now had our COVID jabs, and with the incidence of infection falling we hope we will be able to return the club to more normal times when we can all meet up once again.
However, for the foreseeable future we maintain the use of Zoom to Club meetings, talks and events.
This is what we have organised for the next 6 weeks:
This Monday night, 8th March at 19.30 by Zoom we have one of our ‘What’s on My Workbench’ sessions. Come and get five minutes to tell us about a project you are working on, be it construction, software, antennas or some other aspect of amateur radio. Just tell us about the project and prepare a few slides for us if that is helpful and then answering any questions that come up.
Just click on this link to join us https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84637240494…
If you need it the Meeting ID: 846 3724 0494 and the Passcode: MKARS
The waiting room will open from 19.15.
Monday night 15th March at 19.30 on Zoom sees us have our Home Construction Special Interest Group. We’ll discuss a number of things such as component sources, useful test equipment and how to use it, and ideas for a club construction project. Remember also, there is still the opportunity to join the Home Construction IO Group – an MKARS Message Board for our home constructors. Please contact Steve G6ALU or Las M0BOY by PM if you want to sign up.
Zoom connection details will follow for the Homebrew SIG.
We delighted that on Monday 22nd March at 19.30 on Zoom our very own Las, M0BOY, will give us a talk on “HAMduino – Welcoming Arduino in your shack”. This should be a fascinating talk about introducing Arduinos into ham radio.
Connection details will once again follow for Las’s Arduino Talk.
Turning to April, on Monday April 12th we are very fortunate to have internationally recognised Carl Luetzelschwab, K9LA talk to us about Solar Cycle 25 Predictions and Progress. Carl will be joining us on Zoom from the US. Once again further details will follow, but mark this for your calendar as it will be a talk not to be missed.
Later on in April we are just finalising a talk on Chasing VHF/UHF DX using KST and AirScout.
Finally, Tim G6GEI and Brendan G8IYX have been working on an MKARS QSO Challenge for us for the Easter bank holiday. We will run this on 2m and an HF band – it will be all about working as many MKARS members as possible over the two days. Details will be sent around shortly.
Thats it for now,
